What inspires us? Getting creative with stonemasonry and specialty decorative brickwork, especially for period and heritage restorations (but also for modern renovations and new home constructions too). We always love to collaborate with interior designers, landscapers and architects. But our absolute favourite thing is being called on to work hand-in-hand with clients themselves.
From reclaimed bluestone to sandstone to cultured stone, we know that the beauty of stone lies in the fact that no two pieces are ever quite the same. We approach your project in the same way to deliver a hands-on service with a bespoke finish.
We can lend a hand all the way from the initial design stage to finessing those essential final elements that breathe life into your vision. We’re all about adding that unique, personal touch to your home. Speaking of home, our HQ is in Ocean Grove, but we work all across Melbourne and wider Victoria.
We welcome a challenge - particularly when other stone masons say a job “can’t be done”. We work with any and all stone and are more than happy to source rare or difficult-to-find materials.
Meet MJ
Master Stonemason MJ Callea founded Callea Stone Masonry in 2019.
But, his journey into working with stone began much, much earlier than that.
We reckon that MJ must have fast-forward through the building blocks stage that most other kids take forever to perfect. From the age of five, he’d spend school holidays and spare weekends helping out his uncles and family friends who were builders, carpenters and bricklayers. It’s not clear how useful his young hands were back then, but something definitely stuck. As soon as he could, he became a qualified mason and self-taught stonemason, going on to hone his craft, by learning from expert stonemasons out of England.
Now, with Callea Stone Masonry, MJ’s vision is to provide creative, prestige-quality stone work with personality that will stand the test of time.
